Endless entertainment

I'm going to share with you a gift my dear friend Wren blessed me with a couple of years ago. If you're an animal lover you MUST visit http://www.cuteoverload.com/!! Don't skip the gibberish talk... it is really funny. If you aren't an animal lover... then you're probably thinking how lame the site is. Don't ruin my fun. If you really love it look at the archives on the right side of the website.

It is truly amazing how new clothes will make you feel!! Today Dan took me to Opry Mills and I bought four new sweaters, a pair of jeans, and some new shoes. I'm on cloud 9!! We were able to do this becaauuusseee.... **let the suspense build....**** we FINALLY paid off our credit card! WHOOOOO!! It is such a wonderful feeling! Now the only debt we have left is our car. I can't imagine having no debt but hopefully we'll be there in 09!

Well Friday I had the D&C and so I'm glad to have that behind me. The recovery was non-existent and so I'm thankful for that.

I can't believe next week is Christmas!! How exciting is that!? I'm going to Mississippi to be with my mom and grandma aka Gommy and I'm really looking forward to that! I still have quite a bit of shopping to do too. We always have a big Christmas Eve get together with yummy food so hopefully I'll be there in time to help prepare. Another fun thing coming up.... the Dave Ramsey Christmas party is this Saturday! I'm really excited!! That's all for now... hope everyone has a great week!

Really Bad News

I had a follow up appointment this morning and got some bad news. Apparently I have a blighted ovum and the baby isn't living anymore. The sonogram showed an empty womb and I could clearly see that immediately. Dan and I are both sad but we're doing okay and we'll bounce back quickly, I'm sure. I have felt very comforted knowing my family, friends, and coworkers are there for us. Anyway, that is all to report for now. I'll post again after a while.

1st Doctors appointment today

Hello everyone! Well we had our first appointment today and everything looks good! We did get a little bit of disappointing news... apparently I'm not as far along as we thought. The doctor said that it looks like I'm about 6 weeks (instead of the almost 9 we thought I was). I don't really understand how that is possible but I'm going to take her word for it. I'm really glad everything looks good...but it just kinda stinks because every week I read about what is happening... and apparently most of that hasn't even happened yet! Dan and the doctor could see the heart beating... but I couldn't. I'm going back on December 1st to make sure everything is okay and to give me a new due date. That is all the news I have today... have a great weekend!

Stuffy.... but happy! :)

Unfortunately it seems as though I have a sinus infection! I've completely lost my voice and can't breathe through my nose. On top of that I'm nauseated in waves through out the day. Definitely not fun. I know all of you must really love reading about this... but really, I have to be that the stereotypical complaining pregnant woman, right?? I went to the doctor today and she gave me a Z pack and some nasal spray. I didn't feel completely comfortable taking them both so I googled them and ended up only taking the Z pack.

Moving on.... I can't WAIT till Friday! Our first sonogram is going to be crazy fun/exciting! I was talking to my friend Lydia who is around 16 weeks pregnant and she said she cried when she saw her baby on the first appointment. I'll definitely be surprised if I cry! I was surprised at my reaction today when I went to Walmart and bought some itty bitty onesies. My sister in law said that she did that when she got pregnant so I thought it might be fun. When I opened up those onesies and saw how little and sweet they were I was just overwhelmed thinking "my baby will wear this one day!!!" So precious. :)

Dan has been so good this past week while I haven't been feeling well. He took half of today off work to come home and take care of me. Anyway, I'm off to battle with him over the remote! Goodnight!

My lack of emotional stability....

Well... I have a funny story to tell. This morning Dan and I were going back and forth about something I can't remember but I do remember calling him a pansy girl. Obviously, being the manly man that he is, he didn't like that too much. He decided the proper punishment would be to hit me several times with a pillow. (I was still laying in bed while he was up getting ready for work.) Well... after about the 3rd blow I decided I didn't like that anymore and began to sob uncontrollably. It was the most random and weird thing that has ever happened! It hurt a little... but certainly not bad enough to cry like I was. Dan stood there looking oh so confused for minute trying to see if I was faking. But the tears proved I was really being that dramatic. I continued to cry until he let me slap him in the face. :) That made everything better and I was laughing and crying at the same time. I guess this is my first case of pregnancy emotional roller coaster! Whoo! It was very interesting but makes for a funny story. Despite how it may sound, I promise we're not a violent couple... we really do love each other!

Well... tomorrow night we're leaving for Mississippi for Dan's cousin's wedding and we're going to tell his parents our news Friday night! So exciting!! I can't wait to see his family (especially Kate and Bryce) and my family too. Then, my first sonogram is a week from Friday (on the 14th). I'm soooo looking forward to that because, naturally, I worry a lot about how things are going in there. I haven't experienced a lot of symptoms lately so I just can't wait to see that heart beating and know everything is fine. We're probably going to be dropping poor Roscoe off at my Mom's this weekend... for good. I feel so bad... I feel really bad for Shelby because she is going to be by herself every day and 8 hours is a long time with no friends... but we'll all have to get over it. It will ease a lot of stress and make room for our baby. Dan and I joked about telling Dan's parents they would have to take Roscoe (apparently he has a history of finding animals and making his parents take care of them). I'm sure they would think that is hilarious--- NOT! Anyway, that is all for now. I'm off to finish a paper!

Letting Daddy in on a little secret....

Below is the video of me telling Dan. It isn't the best because it is so short and Dan was pretty much in shock but you get the point. :)

We're going home to Mississippi next weekend to tell Dan's parents and I can't wait!!!!

We're Pregnant!!

That's right! We're PREGNANT! Prego... preggers... however you cool people want to say it! :) Let me begin by apologizing for how long this first post will be. I have a lot to say! I will tell you all about it! Okay... well maybe not ALL about it... I'll skip to the part where I found out I was pregnant. On the 14th after realizing that I was exactly one day late (and upon the urging of my pal Amanda) I went to the dollar store and bought two pregnancy tests. I wanted to wait until the next morning to take them because they say the tests can pick up the pregnancy hormone first thing in the morning. In the middle of the night I was abruptly awakened by my strange husband about 2 inches from my face just staring at me. Don't ask. He thinks he is funny. So anyway I got up to go to the bathroom and figured I could go ahead and take a test. (Keep in mind... Dan had no clue about any of this pregnancy business). I didn't follow the instructions on the test because they seemed way too complicated at that hour and I was still a little frustrated by my sweet awakening. Anyway... apparently you have to follow the directions on those things because that test came back inconclusive. The next morning after Dan left for work I decided to take the second test. I took it and got in the shower expecting a negative result when I got out. Well... to my surprise after my shower I realized the test had one line and another extremely faint line (pregnant). I really didn't believe it at all. I thought maybe I waited too long to check the test. Anyway, Amanda convinced me again to go by more pregnancy tests.... in her words... NOW! So I hurried up and got ready for work and went to walgreens and bought two more tests. I'm always right on time or a minute or two late for work and Wednesday was a devotional day so I rushed into the conference center and took the test in the bathroom. Positive. :) :) :) At this point it was really hitting me!!! I was scared, excited, and way too many other emotions to name! I ended up telling one more friend at work, Julie, and they helped me through my first two days of pregnancy. Believe me... they endured! We instant messaged about 5000 times those first two days about what to do, when to tell Dan, and how to tell him.

I had a doctor's appointment that next day and they confirmed my previous tests. I took the rest of the day off and decided to tell Dan in a special way! I went to Walmart and bought 30 pink and blue balloons and made a sign that said "Welcome Home Daddy!!!" I set everything up and watched out of the window for about 30 minutes until I finally saw Dan drive up. I was so nervous! I'm normally not home when Dan gets off work so he was confused when he opened the door and saw the balloons... he thought I was just being silly and said "What are you doing?!" (Like I'm an idiot). I just sat there with my sign and smiled. He also explained later that after he read my sign he didn't get it because I call him daddy sometimes because of our dogs. So he just stood there in the door way trying to get it for a minute and then when he realized what I was trying to tell him he said "Are you SERIOUS??? Are you SERIOUS?? You're joking!" and walked over to hug me with the biggest, sweetest smile I've ever seen. I got half of this on a video with my camera and will post it later but it doesn't capture the moment... obviously. Anyway... so that is how I found out and how I told Dan!! I tried my best not to tell my coworkers and friends but I couldn't help it and by Friday just about everyone except our parents knew. I can't keep a secret. So... I'm 6 1/2 weeks pregnant and we're due June 19th (the day before Dan's 30th birthday). I've only had heartburn and some tenderness for side effects so I'm not complaining! Well, I'll wrap it up for now- I'll post the video of me telling Dan soon!
